This is the home of the Major Thomas J. Key Camp #1920 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. The SCV is the oldest hereditary organization for male descendents of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to insuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.

The Kansas Arborists Association (KAA) is an organization comprised of individuals engaged in the maintenance of tree care. From the first meeting held at the Wareham Hotel in Manhattan, Kansas in 1953, the KAA has continued to hold annual training events and conferences for over fifty years.
